Retail shopping stores vie for customers’ attention with big advertising and impressive storefront displays. You may not realize it now, but your affiliate marketing efforts should follow the same basic principle. By having an effectively designed landing page for your affiliate marketing website, you will have a leg up on your competitors while simultaneously encouraging prospective customers to buy through your site. Here are a few basic guidelines to follow when designing an affiliate marketing landing page.

A banner either near or at the top of your landing page is crucial. When prospective customers visit your site, the first thing their eyes should be drawn to is a link to a product. Make sure that once the banner is clicked, surfers are directed straight to information on the product and how they can purchase it.

Another important tip for your landing page is to include attractive images of products and price ranges. If applicable, include images with people in them, using the product. Studies have shown that prospective buyers identify with a product if they see others using it in ad copy and images. While strategically placed quality images are important, be sure not to clutter your landing page with them either. Too many strong visual cues on a single page confuse web surfers and they are more apt to click away rather than investigating the product you are selling.

You also want to focus on one product per landing page. The last thing you want to do is confuse prospective buyers on exactly what it is you want them to do or buy. Best to keep it simple, but effective. Ensure that your site copy refers only to the single highlighted product.

On the topic of copy, keep it concise. It’s always a good idea to give short product descriptions, hitting the high points, and giving surfers the most important details. They can read the fine print later after they have bought the product. Guide visitors with clumps of text, from left to right. The human eye follows a natural path from left to right, so it plays to your advantage to situate copy in such a way.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 20 years, it’s pretty obvious that the Internet has proven to be one heck of a marketing opportunity and proving ground. Online marketing has developed into an extremely viable business venture with profitable results when done correctly. CPA marketing is one arrow in the quiver many people are turning to in order to generate revenue. Let’s take a look at this model and how it can work for you.

CPA stands for “Cost Per Action.” This means payment is based upon qualifying actions such as sales and/or registrations. Translation: an advertiser pays you when someone surfing the web buys or signs up for their product based on a link you generated to it. A link, in this case, could be a website or web article featured on a blog. Sounds pretty cool, huh? Specific and desirable actions are usually defined by the advertiser so you know what you need to get people to do. Quite simply, your job within the CPA model is to divert Internet traffic to an advertiser’s product. That’s it. While this concept sounds easy, there are some basic concepts to keep in mind when getting started.

First, Internet traffic is key. Once you have enrolled with a CPA provider, the amount of traffic generated by your site or article directly affects the amount of money you can make directing surfers to your provider’s product. Do yourself a favor and study up on effective website principles to maximize traffic.

Keep in mind the rate your are being paid for your efforts. This is directly tied to the action required by the web surfer, which could include purchasing a product, filling out an online survey, or registering for a a service. This is directly defined by your CPA provider. Most CPA programs specify the CPA value which allows you to select the best solution for your needs and resources. The Action Performance Rate (APR) is the percentage of visitors who actually perform the required action. The higher the APR, the higher the profit gained from CPA marketing.

CPA marketing is a great way to learn about product placement in an online arena, and can be profitable at the same time. There are tons of CPA programs out there, so don’t hesitate to get started looking for the right one to fit your needs!

One of the most telling factors in a high search engine ranking is the power of links. Every time someone links to your site, it registers with Google as a sign of its popularity. The more people you can persuade to place a link to your site on theirs, the more highly Google will rank you. This has led to an increase in the popularity of link bank sites where people go and place links to their site. The theory goes that it doesn’t matter if someone clicks the link – the fact that it is there, on another site, means that you have got the points for being linked to.

This is a dangerous way of trying to generate a high Google search ranking. For one thing, link bank sites are full of other links. Yes, you may have got your link on another site, but so have they. If you were to click through, you’d find that many of these sites are terrible – but clicking through is inadvisable in any case, because what really gives you a high Google ranking, far more so than just having a link to your site, is having a popular and active link that people are keen to read. Therefore, you should consider the quality of your website before you go about trying to build links.

Placing links on places like your Twitter feed and online forums is potentially beneficial, but only specifically helpful if the link is likely to be clicked. If you stick a disembodied, out-of-context link on a site, or if few people read the site, the best thing that can happen is that people don’t bother clicking it. if you place it in a form that has rules against spamming, you may find your post edited and your account cancelled.

One of the most powerful tools in internet marketing today is a working knowledge of SEO. There are still quite a few people who know very little about SEO, or if they know about it are still a bit unclear as to how it works. This can often be seen in the sight of articles on both blogs and article bank websites which have crowbarred in keywords wherever they will seemingly fit. The articles end up, by nature, being difficult to read and uninformative. In chasing the higher Google search ranking, the SEO novice often ends up losing out on the end result.

If you want people to see and click through the ad on your site, you cannot have success just by focusing on getting them to see it, and nor can you expect to have a lot of clicks if you focus on persuading them to click it. SEO is like medicine – used in the right quantities it has the desired effect. Too little and it will be ineffective, too much is an overdose. Therefore you need to consider:

how you get a good search engine ranking
how you make certain that this happens without spoiling the quality of the content.

To make sure that it works for you, you need to sit down and plan an article. Yes, you need to hit the right keywords in the right quantities, but you also need to make sure that what you write is interesting enough to hold the attention of people who come to your site from a search engine.

When writing articles for a CPA website blog, it is worth considering how you can ensure they are seen by the widest possible audience. People are going to read the content that is presented in the best way, and are going to take the easiest way of finding it. in large part, this means that you should promote your articles by linking to them on a social networking site like Twitter – where you can have an account devoted to the subject of your articles – and also submitting them to article bank websites, which have an excellent reputation for getting content onto the first pages of a Google search,

Remember that CPA is most effective when the people who are reading the articles are of a mind to be interested in what you are saying. Without fail, CPA websites are devoted to a certain niche, and whatever that niche is it should have a section related to it on article bank sites like Ezine. Niches are useful because they can generally be summed up in keywords. If your promotion is linked to – for example – medical offers, then someone will be more likely to find your site if they search for (again an example) “cheap weight loss medicine”. They can read the article on Ezine and bounce through to your website for more information.

So much of the most effective CPA is done by placing articles strategically on sites around the Internet. if you know where to place your articles, you are that much closer to marketing success.

Affiliate marketing may seem from the outside like a pretty lazy and uncontrolled way of making money – in some ways, it looks like some getting money for sticking a link on their website and simply hoping that people click through on it. while some people will try to make money from affiliate marketing in this lazy way, they won’t usually stick at it for long because you won’t make money if you are not getting click throughs. If you can guarantee more click throughs, you will get more money coming your way, so it makes sense to put a bit more planning into your website than some people will.

Articles are an excellent way to raise people’s interest and awareness. You have between 250 and (ideally) 500 words – or more should you choose – to define why they should be interested in what you are seeking to promote, and persuade them to see the benefits of at least signing up for more information. If you make the article too long they will lose interest and surf elsewhere, but if you make it too short you cannot address the subject in any meaningful depth.

It also makes sense to consider the number of articles you place on a site. If you include a blog on your site then you can have a set number of posts on the front page. Normally, five is considered the optimum number of posts – allowing you to cover the topic from a range of angles. The more clearly you can address the subject, the more people you can convince and the more completely you can convince them.

CPA as much as any other form of internet marketing relies on making people want to click links and demonstrate an interest in the promotions you are taking part in. Although, unlike many other forms of internet marketing, CPA does not directly rely on people making a purchase, it does have a beneficial effect to be able to provide qualified leads. Therefore, it is beneficial if you can make them leave your website with the intention of getting more information – whether they make an order, fill a response form or anything else, it is important to ensure that they are more interested because of their visit to your site.

The most immediate way to make your website appealing for CPA purposes is to provide quality content. Content is the hook that makes people hang on and find out more when they visit a website. If you get the content right, then you will have people staying on the website and therefore they will be more likely to click any link on that site. Once people have clicked that link, it would help if they are prepared to go straight for the action that you have set as your “cost per” action. You can make sure they are by writing good articles for your website.

The most important thing about the articles is that they should make clear that the person visiting the website will have their life improved or a problem solved by deciding to take an interest in the product or service you are promoting.

Making sure that you are accepted by a CPA network involves a bit of work on your part, and it is key to remember that everyone who is applying wants, just as much as you do, to be accepted to the networks you have applied to. It is therefore essential to make yourself look as valuable as possible to a CPA network by showing that you are intent on making the promotions you are involved in a success for you, for the advertisers and for everyone else involved. In part, you can demonstrate this to the network by not leaving it to them to get back to you.

In some sectors of the business world this might be considered impolite – getting in people’s faces works in some businesses but in others it is considered highly off-putting. In CPA, a major part of the strategy that will make you successful will be your enthusiasm. Showing that you do not lack in enthusiasm will work to your advantage – it is well worth calling to follow up your application and explaining that you are keen to get started. They may go through a phone interview with you there and then and if you demonstrate knowledge to go with your enthusiasm you will look much better in their eyes.

You may find from looking on the network’s website a list of Messenger IDs for the affiliate managers at the company. This is an excellent chance to make immediate contact and, if the affiliate manager is not available to chat at the time you can make a telephone appointment right there.

Applying and getting accepted to a CPA network is among the most important parts of making a future for yourself in internet marketing. When it comes to your application, you want it to be convincing enough that a company will say “Yes, you have our attention – we are convinced that you know enough to do the job, and we will accept you”. There is no point going about this in a timid way – the networks will accept some and reject others, and if you get rejected you will just have to apply somewhere else – or make sure your application is improved and resubmitted.

There are certain things that make a CPA network throw an application directly into the garbage without giving it much thought. One of the most common rookie mistakes is to use a generic email address on your application. If it finishes with @hotmail.com or @gmail.com, then you are going to find it harder to be accepted. It’s no slight on you personally, but most of the scam applicants use generic addresses. When you set up your website, you should have been given a webmaster email account. Use this.

Never leave anything blank on the form. If you leave things out, it looks like you’re hiding something. Even if your honest answer to the question risks making you look bad, fill it in and explain the situation – CPA networks are big on giving chances to those who show they understand the arrangement. Finally, use a genuine phone number and address rather than a PO Box – just like an application for credit, you will want to convince them you are worth it.

One of the most frequently asked questions about CPA is “Do I need a website in order to get accepted to a network?”. It is a fair question too, as some of the promotions run by CPA advertisers do not actually need to be advertised through a website specifically. There are promotions that will work equally well through social networking. Some CPA networks will accept you without a website, and if you are filled with dread at the prospect of setting up a website for some reason, then you can concentrate on working through them. However if the question is “Do I need a website in order to make real progress?” the answer is “Yes.”

There can be no denying that CPA networks look much more favorably on applicants who have a website to link to. This is a fact. In fact, many networks have a hard and fast rule preventing people from signing up to the network if they do not have a website. The best networks stipulate that you need to have a website, and will check that website to see if it is up to the standards they have come to expect from applicants. Therefore it cannot be a holding page, it should not be a social networking profile, and it should have original content and some concept of design to it.

Think about applying for a credit card or a loan. You have to go through a credit check to show the lender that you are trustworthy, or they won’t lend you the money. With CPA networks, they are staking their reputation on providing good affiliates, so they want you to show that you know what that takes. Give them something good to look at.
